John Dawe Memorial Cup
This cup is named after former committee member John Dawe who sadly passed away on 26th August 1997. John was very active in his local area of O'Hanlon Park and the importance of John’s memory is seen in the high attendance at this fishing competition each year.
Fishing Competition 2012
O'Hanlon Park / Hillview Residents Association held their annual John Dawe Fishing Competition on Saturday September 1st, this year’s event took place at Castlewellan Forest Park.
Over sixty young and not so young anglers took part in this year’s competition and a great day was had by all. Though the sun shone for most of the day, a strong wind made fishing on the day very difficult and it was the younger anglers who coped better and scooped first, second and third places. Last year’s runner-up Cáelán Travers was not going to be denied getting his name on the cup this year, catching what was the biggest trout caught in the competition to-date. Second place went to Wayne Boland, with Colm Wykes taking third place.
